Design Build Miramar BRIG
New Project Start:
On November 4, 2009, the San Diego Clark Construction Group awarded the Design Build Miramar BRIG project to Sherwood Mechanical. This project will add 200 prisoner cells to the existing 400 prisoner facility due to the consolidation of 3 other west coast Brig facilities (Camp Pendleton, Edwards AFB and Kirkland AFB). The primary facility is a multi-story, concrete masonry unit (CMU) and poured in place reinforced concrete building with concrete foundations and membrane roof. The project consists of 200 cells (120-men & 80-women), new dining facility, sleeping space, administrative areas, storage and logistical support areas, recreational and educational areas and health services. The project also includes a new prisoner industries/maintenance facility to provide work and training support spaces.
Sherwood Mechanical's contract includes the design build assist responsibilities and construction of the following systems; sewer, water, gas, grease interceptor, condensates,
plumbing fixtures, plumbing equipment, hook up of kitchen equipment, and the solar domestic hot water system.
McParlane and Associates is handling the plumbing Engineering with Sherwood Mechanical's ongoing cohesive assistance. The project will be designed and built to achieve a LEED silver certification from the US Green Building Council.
The design, coordination, mock ups, site mobilization, demo and general grading started in November. Our underground activities are scheduled to start in late December.

Escondido Senior House project
New Project Start:
On November 20, 2009, Allgire General Contractors awarded the plumbing contract to Sherwood Mechanical for the 51,672 square foot Escondido Senior House project. It's a 61 unit, 4 story wood structure building on a concrete slab on grade. SMI's scope of work includes the installation of the sewer, water, gas, condensates, plumbing fixtures, and plumbing equipment. The project is scheduled to start December 15, 2009.
